A demon is generally understood as a metaphysical or mystical are generally characterized by their evil nature or origin. Although good demons sometimes find themselves in the literary works of authors such as Shakespeare and Hesiod, usually a demon refers to a malevolent being who acts as "the enemy" in most works fiction.

The demons are more famous in Christian literature, where they are supposed to be fallen angels.
